Welcome to Year 2!

Hi Year 2s of 2023-24!

What a wonderful start to the term we have had! Already, we have played in the forest, learnt the importance of friendship through our friendship card-making, and much, much more!

Our Big Idea topic this half term is all about belonging. We are thinking about where we belong and what it means to belong.

I am an Eco-Warrior – Summer 1

What an exciting half term we have ahead!

Welcome back Year 2 to the Summer term. This is a fabulous term – plenty of sunshine (hopefully!) and lots of outdoor learning.

We are focusing on plants in Science and will be planting our own flowers and watching them grow. How exciting!

We will be thinking about how to keep ourselves and others safe, and considering how we can make the world a better place through our relationships with others.

I am an Explorer!

Welcome back to all of the children in Year 2. I hope you had a wonderful, restful holiday.

Our new Big Idea topic is ‘I am an Explorer!’

In our work this half term, we will be learning lots about everyday materials. We will do an icy experiment which links to both our science learning and our English Quality Text ‘The Rainbow Bear’.

We will also be learning about Kadinsky. We will create a beautiful Kadnisky-inspired picture using shapes and colour.

I can’t wait to get started!

I am an Explorer!

After a very successful RE Week learning about ‘who is Jewish and what do they believe?’, Year 2 are beginning their topic ‘I am an explorer’.

In this topic, we will develop our knowledge in various curriculum areas including history (when we will learn about the moon landings) and science (when we will earn about different habitats. We will also do some interesting and exciting experiments!)

What a fun-packed half term we have ahead of us!
